COMPOSTING PROGRAM
GAIA’S Compost program
Gaia’s has partnered with a residential service working to make it easy for everyone to compost even if you don’t have the time or space. Here’s how it works:
Come in to Gaia’s and let us know you’d like to join the composting club. It costs $15 for your first composting bucket - cash or Venmo! Along with your compost container, you’ll receive a list of what you can compost with the program. Take your bucket home and fill it up as much as you can. When it’s full, bring it back to Gaia’s and swap it for a new composting bucket for $7. We’ll take care of the messier parts!
What can I compost?
Fruits and vegetables (can be originally fresh or frozen, expired, bruised, rinds or peels without stickers)
Egg shells
Nut shells
Old or expired spices and herbs
Coffee grounds and filters
Tea bags (without staples)
Cardboard, paper egg cartons
Toilet paper and paper towel rolls
Shredded paper
Newspaper
Napkins, tissues and paper towels
Tip: start your new compost bucket with torn cardboard, old newspaper, used paper towels or napkins at the bottom to absorb moisture and help keep things tidy
Why should I compost?
Composting is a great way to start living more sustainably by diverting waste from landfills, reducing emissions that contribute to climate change, increasing soil health and conserving water.
